World Hunger Day

The World Hunger Project says that today there are 821.6 million people who are chronically undernourished. This is more than 785 million in 2015, although still down from about 950 million in 2005. For more information on the rising rate of global undernutrition, see our response to the 2019 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report.

99% of the world’s undernourished people live in developing countries. Women and girls make up 60 percent of the world’s hungry.
